Cheque Presentation to the Mayor Of Knutsford’s Charities by Majlis Manchester South

As part of  Majlis Ansarullah campaign to support local charities, The Mayor of Knutsford, Councillor Neil Forbes, was contacted by Mr Arif Ahmad, Coordinator for Cheque Presentations for the North.  He was initially very surprised to receive our offer but after some clarification he was delighted to receive our donation of £500 towards his nominated charities – Knutsford GROW and St John’s Wood Lunch Club.  Both charities help the elderly and disabled.

The Mayor invited the Ansar delegation to The Knutsford Town Council Offices on 30 April 2015 to present the cheque to Kane Gunter from Knutsford Grow and Mrs Yvonne Baker from St John’s Wood Lunch Club.  Also in attendance were the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Tony Dean, Councillor Julian Goodrich, Councillor Andrew Malloy and Councillor Peter Raynes.

The Ansar delegation consisted of Mr Muhammad Kashif, Regional Nazim of the North West Region, Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Rana from Manchester South Majlis and Mr Arif Ahmad, Coordinator for Cheque Presentations in the North.  In addition one Lajna member attended.

During the meeting informal discussions about the charitable and fund raising activities of Majlis Ansarullah and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at were held.  In addition the purpose behind the donation – that is to support small, local charities – was also explained.

The party presented The Mayor with a cheque for £500, a copy of the Holy Qur’an and copies of the books Life of Muhammad and World Crisis and Pathway to Peace.  Copies of the books, together with a covering letter about the activities of Majlis Ansarullah, were also left for the other 15 Councillors of Knutsford.

The Mayor was also presented with some flowers and chocolates. The event was also covered by the local newspaper, The Knutsford Guardian, and a brief interview was given to the reporter.  A brief article about the event appeared the newspaper on 9 April 2015.

Subsequent to the presentation Mr Kane Gunter e-mailed Mr Arif Ahmad and said I am reading “World Crisis and the Pathway to Peace” and about Mirza Masroor Ahmad, I wish the world had more people like him!
