Event: Beacon of Peace Charity Walk

Report Summary: With the grace and blessings of Allah the Almighty, Majlis Ansarullah Hartlepool successfully held the Beacon of Peace Charity Walk on Saturday, 31st August 2024. The event aimed to promote peace, unity, and hope while raising funds for various UK charities.
Pre-Walk Activities: Prior to the event, the Local Amla Ansarullah convened in June 2024 to ensure a smooth planning process for the charity walk. Tasks and responsibilities were assigned to Amla members and the charity walk team, with follow-up meetings scheduled twice a month to monitor progress.
Promotion: A promotional campaign was launched throughout the Majlis. Saiqeen were tasked with personally calling and texting Nasir members to inform them about the walk and encourage participation. The event details were also displayed on the Nasir Mosque notice board, and with the assistance of Maulana Tahir Peter Selby Sahib, various dignitaries from Hartlepool were invited.
Formal Proceedings on the Charity Walk Day:
- Registration began at 10:30 am.
- At 11:20 am, the Mayor, Ms. Carole Thompson, and other dignitaries were invited on stage.
- Chairman of Beacon of Peace, Lutf ur Rahman Sahib, presented a bouquet to the Mayor.
- The program was hosted by Maulana Tahir Peter Selby Sahib, who started with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Mustajab ur Rehman Khokhar, followed by its English translation.
- The Mayor delivered her thoughts on the occasion, followed by a speech from Chairman Lutf ur Rahman Sahib.
- Local President Hartlepool, William Bilal Atkinson Sahib, led a silent prayer before the walk commenced.
Charity Walk Highlights:
- Approximately 75 walkers participated, ranging from the youngest at 5 years old to the eldest at 85, showcasing a beautiful diversity of participants united for a common cause.
- A group photograph was taken, and the Mayor cut the ribbon to officially start the walk.
- Upon completion of the walk, medals were awarded by the Mayor to all participants and volunteers.
- Lunch with fruits was served at the end of the event.
Impact: Every penny raised through the walk will be donated to several UK charities, highlighting the community’s commitment to making a positive difference.
