Alhamdulillah, the East Region successfully hosted its inaugural cycling event under the Beacon of Peace banner. Nearly 40 cyclists and over 70 guests participated in two scenic routes of 50KM and 80KM along the stunning Kent coastline.
The day began with breakfast and registration, followed by an opening session led by Hafiz Ijaz Tahir Sahb. Sadr Majlis, Mirza Waqas Ahmad Sahb, also took part and completed the 50KM route.
The first group of riders set off at 9:45 AM, supported by a dedicated team of over 30 volunteers from the region. Two support vehicles accompanied the cyclists along each route, providing refreshments throughout. In addition, two designated refreshment stops allowed riders to rehydrate and take a well-earned break.
Cyclists enjoyed a picturesque route starting from Rochester and passing through Cuxton, Meopham, and Maidstone, before returning to Riverview Manor in Rochester—making for a truly memorable experience.
Upon returning to the finish line, participants were greeted with medals, marking the end of a thoroughly enjoyable and successful event. This was followed by a delicious BBQ lunch and Zohr and Asr prayers.
The success of the event was made possible by the tireless efforts of over 30 regional volunteers, and there is strong hope that it will become an annual tradition for Majlis Ansarullah UK.
