Masroor General & Maternity Hospitals Inaugurated in Burkina Faso – A Beacon of Hope for Humanity

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has marked another milestone in its mission to serve humanity with the inauguration of the Masroor Medical Complex in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

The inauguration ceremony took place on 22nd February 2025 and was led by Respected Maulana Abdul Majid Tahir Sahib, Additional Wakilut-Tabshir, who represented Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V (may Allah be his helper). The event was attended by His Excellency Dr. Robert Lucien Jean-Claude Kargougou, Minister of Health of Burkina Faso, along with government officials, traditional chiefs, diplomats, healthcare professionals, and nearly 400 distinguished guests.

A State-of-the-Art Facility

The Masroor Medical Complex comprises two large hospitals:

  • Masroor General Hospital – featuring emergency and accident care, two operating theatres, diagnostic services, specialist consultations, and a pharmacy.
  • Masroor Maternity Hospital – with advanced maternity wards, neonatal care, operating theatres, and specialised units for premature babies.

Together, the hospitals provide round-the-clock services, including cardiology, gynaecology, dentistry, laboratory testing, imaging, prenatal and postnatal care, vaccination programmes, and emergency care.

A beautiful mosque, Bait-ur-Rehman, was also inaugurated within the complex to provide spiritual support to patients, families, and staff.

Serving a Nation in Need

Burkina Faso faces severe healthcare challenges, with maternal mortality rates nearly 30 times higher than the UK. The Masroor Medical Complex offers life-saving interventions and accessible healthcare for thousands who previously had to travel long distances for treatment. Since its soft launch in September 2024, the hospitals have already served thousands of patients.

A Legacy of Sacrifice and Service

The $1.25 million project was made possible through the sacrifices of Majlis Ansarullah UK and generous donations from members around the world, particularly Dr. Lutf-ur-Rehman Sahib and Dr. Faiza Rehman Sahiba, who contributed significantly towards the construction of the hospitals.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Health of Burkina Faso expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for their decades-long partnership in healthcare, including free eye surgeries, medical camps, and now these two landmark hospitals.

Guided by Khilafat

The entire project was guided by the prayers and vision of Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V (aba), whose message at the inauguration reminded all present:

“May Allah the Exalted make this Health Complex not only a means of treating physical ailments but also a source of promoting spiritual and moral values. May He enable its entire staff to fulfil their responsibilities in the best possible manner, and may He continue to empower the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat to serve humanity even more than before. Ameen.”

Media Coverage

The event received widespread coverage across TV, radio, newspapers, and social media in Burkina Faso. MTA International aired a special segment on the inauguration, further amplifying the message of “Love for All, Hatred for None.”
