The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community began the New Year with a blend of devotion, unity, and service, setting a beautiful example of Islamic teachings in action. The day’s activities were structured around Tahajjud prayers, community bonding over breakfast, and a joint Waqar-e-Amal (volunteer cleanliness drive).
Planning and Coordination for a Successful Event In preparation for these New Year activities, a Regional Amila and Zauma Meeting was held, where a detailed plan was developed to uphold the Jama’at’s traditions of Tahajjud prayer and Waqar-e-Amal. The planning, led by Nazim-e-Ala Tahir Region, included discussions with Qaid Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya to organize a combined cleaning program involving Ansarullah, Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya, and Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya.
To maximize participation, a flyer was distributed across social media platforms, encouraging members to join in these blessed activities. This proactive communication ensured a successful turnout and unified effort, reflecting the strength of collective action in the Jama’at.
Tahajjud Prayer Across Five Locations The day began with the Tahajjud Prayer, offered at:
- Fazl Mosque
- Battersea Centre
- Burntwood Centre
- Clapham Junction Centre
- Peckham Centre
Reports indicate that 112 Ansar brothers participated in the Tahajjud prayer. Special mention is due to Peckham Majlis, where 16 Ansar brothers joined this blessed act of worship. The turnout showcased the members’ dedication to beginning the New Year with spiritual reflection and seeking Allah’s blessings.
Breakfast and Fellowship Following the Tahajjud prayer, participants at all centers enjoyed a delicious breakfast. The gatherings served to strengthen brotherhood and promote unity, in keeping with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):
“The believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts enforce each other.” (Sahih Bukhari, Book 8, Hadith 32)
Combined Waqar-e-Amal (Litter Picking) at Clapham Common & Peckham The highlight of the day was the Waqar-e-Amal, a joint effort led by Tahir Region, bringing together members from multiple Majalis. This volunteer service reflected the Jama’at’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being.
Participation and Contributions by Majalis The Waqar-e-Amal at Clapham Common saw the participation of 36 Ansar brothers, along with 40 Khuddam and Atfal, who worked side by side to clean the streets and pathways.
Weather Conditions and Participation Despite the windy and cool weather on January 1st, the Ansar brothers demonstrated exceptional dedication and resilience. Braving the harsh winds in the open area of Clapham Common, they participated in the Waqar-e-Amal with remarkable compassion and courage, embodying the true spirit of service and sacrifice. Their commitment serves as an inspiration to all, highlighting the strength of faith and community solidarity even in adverse circumstances.
- Clapham Junction Majlis:
- Took the lead in the activity, with 12 Ansar brothers participating actively and organizing the efforts.
- Peckham Majlis:
- Demonstrated remarkable commitment, with 11 Ansar brothers participating in the cleaning. This was in addition to their impressive attendance at Tahajjud prayer, where 16 Ansar brothers joined.
- Burntwood Majlis:
- Contributed with 5 Ansar brothers, showing their consistent dedication.
- Battersea Majlis:
- Members supported the event and contributed to its overall success.
The combined efforts of Nazim-e-Ala Tahir Region and Qaid Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya ensured seamless coordination, making the event a resounding success.
Concluding Session and Dua The day concluded with heartfelt du‘a, led by regional leadership, asking for Allah’s blessings on the Jama’at’s endeavors. Members expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and refresh their spiritual and community commitments. Refreshments were served afterward, marking the end of a fulfilling and spiritually uplifting New Year’s Day.
This successful celebration of the New Year reflected the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s emphasis on spirituality, unity, and service to humanity. May Allah continue to bless these efforts and enable us to serve both faith and society with even greater zeal in the coming year. Ameen.
