Annual Ijtema Scotland: Reflecting on “The Righteous Servants”

Under the divine blessings of Allah, Majlis Ansarullah Scotland successfully hosted its regional annual Ijtema on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024. The event, themed “The Righteous Servants,” was a testament to spiritual growth and camaraderie among the Ansarullah community in Scotland.

Pre-Event Preparations and Activities

Months before the Ijtema, an efficient committee was formed to orchestrate the event seamlessly. A comprehensive promotional campaign reached all Majalis across Scotland, ensuring widespread participation and engagement. Zuma from Glasgow, Glasgow South, and Edinburgh diligently disseminated the syllabus and program details to all participants.

Sports Competitions

The day commenced with exhilarating sports competitions, fostering healthy competition and team spirit among participants. Events included Badminton (singles & doubles), Table Tennis (singles & doubles), Football, Shot Put, 100-meter sprint, and Tug of War.

Opening Session Highlights

At 10 a.m., registration and breakfast marked the beginning of the Ijtema. Dr. Abdul Hayee Sahib, Regional Amir Scotland, chaired the opening session, commencing with a recitation of the Holy Quran followed by Wassem Ahmad Nazim e Ala Scotland leading the Ansar pledge. Murabbi Sahib Fakhar Ahmad Aftab delivered an insightful speech aligning with the theme of the Ijtema. The session concluded with a silent prayer and a presentation by the Rishta Nata department Ansarullah.

Academic Competitions

Academic excellence was showcased through Tilawat, Nazm, Prepared Speech (in English & Urdu), and Extempore Speech competitions, emphasizing knowledge and eloquence.

Closing Session and Awards Ceremony

The closing session, chaired by Zia Ur Rahman Sahib, Mauvin Sadr Majlis Ansarullah UK, began with Quranic recitation and Nazm, followed by the Ansarullah pledge and an Ijtema report presented by Muhammad Akbar Sahib. Participants were honored with medals, books, and trophies for their achievements in both sports and academic endeavors. Abdul Ghaffar Abid Sahib captivated the audience with a slideshow detailing the impactful Beacon of Peace projects worldwide by Ansarullah UK.

Conclusion and Final Remarks

In his closing address, the chairman reflected on the profound theme of the Ijtema, encouraging continued dedication to righteous service. Murabbi Sahib Dundee Quraishi Daud Ahmad led a heartfelt silent prayer, and a group photograph captured the spirit of unity and fellowship among attendees. Zuhr salat and a communal lunch provided a fitting conclusion to a day filled with spiritual enrichment and communal harmony.
