Social Media Post’s about Burton Jamaat

Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah, we successfully held an Eid Celebration event at our local Baitus Saboor Mosque on 8 May. The programme was attended by 31 external guests from a wide range of backgrounds and community organisations.
Among those present were representatives from Burton Hope, Burton Conservation Volunteers, and SARAC. We also welcomed guests who had seen our event promoted on Facebook, as well as individuals we had previously worked alongside during community action day activities in Winshill and litter-picking sessions at the Washlands.
Throughout the year, we actively work with local volunteering and community organisations, and Alhamdulillah, we are recognised as a positive and reputable presence within the community. During Discover Islam Month, we focused on promoting the campaign not only through words, but through practical service and community engagement — truly reflecting the principle that “actions speak louder than words.”
In recent weeks, there has unfortunately been negative media attention surrounding another group known as the “Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light.” As the name bears some similarity to our Jama’at name, we were initially hesitant about promoting our event widely on social media. However, with prayers and trust in Allah, we proceeded with advertising the event online. Alhamdulillah, Allah blessed the effort, and social media became an effective means of reaching and engaging members of the local community.
Several attendees who first learned about the event through Facebook later joined us at the mosque and shared positive feedback online following their visit. Below are some of the comments and responses from Facebook users who attended the event. The first screenshot shows the original Facebook post used to advertise the Eid Celebration.
